You invest a lot of time and effort in finding just the right pair of eyeglasses. After all, they are a fashion statement all by themselves, and they say a lot about you. The right frame with the perfect color or pattern is a must; after all, you two will be spending a lot of time together! You’ll want to do everything you can to keep them in the best shape possible, as well, so today we are going to share a few care and maintenance tips with you.
- The Rinse. Always rinse off the lenses of your glasses before you wipe or clean them since tiny particles of dirt or dust can be very abrasive if they are not removed first.
- The Spray. Make sure you only use sprays or cleansers made specifically for eyeglasses. It may be tempting to use household products such as Windex, but they contain chemicals such as ammonia which will actually damage and even tear off any lens coating.
- The Air. Whenever possible, let your glasses air dry. This is a perfect way to keep materials from settling onto your lenses. If you can’t do this, wipe them with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- The Right Cloth. Using your shirt tail, paper towels, tissue, or napkins to dry your glasses can scratch those lenses. Only clothing made of 100% cotton is safe for your lenses.
- The Grip. Always hold your frames by the piece that crosses over your nose; this will keep you from bending the frame. That will make your glasses uncomfortable. They won’t look as good, either!
- The Case. Store your glasses in a case when they aren’t in use. You can use a hard case or a microfiber pouch.
- The Wash. In order to keep your lenses in top condition, wash them at least once a day. This will help your eyes since they won’t have to strain to see through smudges and dirt.
Keeping your eyeglasses in top shape will keep you looking (and seeing) your best! Here at Classic Vision Care, your eyes and your eyewear are our business.
